Morgan Miller III

I am a fifth generation San Diegan from Point Loma. I am a graduate of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, with a BFA in Illustration. Along with Sibyl Rubottom, I organize, set up, and run the Athenaeum’s Print Studio in Logan Heights. My work there includes teaching printmaking, type-setting for letterpress, linoleum block prints, and other forms of printmaking. I maintain the presses and print various projects for the Athenaeum, as well as doing my own artwork.

I appreciate printmaking because of my background in Illustration.  With the letterpress you can put words with pictures and then print multiple copies.  This makes printmaking the perfect choice for someone with a background in drawing, painting and graphic design. It is a great way to create an image that has type on it by hand.  Letterpress is where each print is a work of art in itself.
